2018 National Night Out

On Tuesday, August 7th, the community is invited to join the Sonora Police Department as we host an annual National Night Out celebration from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Rotary Park in Sonora.  Please come and share an evening of fun, food, and games as we join the rest of the nation in recognizing the 35th Anniversary of this public safety campaign.  We offer fun for all ages and an opportunity to share thoughts and ask questions of our officers and staff.  Representatives from other local agencies will also be present to share what they do as well.

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.  National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. Additionally, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.

Millions of neighbors take part in National Night Out across thousands of communities from all fifty states, U.S. territories and military bases worldwide on the first Tuesday in August.  Neighborhoods host block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and various other community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel, exhibits and much, much more.
