RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends the following:
1). The purchase of one Dell Server in the amount of $4,676.73.
2). Payment of $7,508.14 to Computer Logistics Corporation
for the configuration
and installation of server and upgrading the E Mail
System.
BACKGROUND:
The Public Safety Committee approved a memory upgrade for the Police Department's computer system. In researching this project it was discovered that the current server is five plus years old. Due to the critical nature of the server in the day to day operations of the Police Department it has been recommended that we replace our current server with an updated server.
DISCUSSION:
Council approved Computer Logistics Corporation (CLC) as the contract vendor for Computer maintenance and upgrades. To install the new server CLC will have to be on site. In addition, to improve our efficiency and cut costs CLC will combine our present in house E Mail system with our internet E Mail system. Both the server installation and E Mail unification will be done with one on site visit instead of paying for two on site visits.
The costs for the above described project will be paid
from the Measure I surplus for the 2005/2006 fiscal year. See attached quotes
from CLC and Dell Computers.
