Subject: Assault with great bodily injury
The Sonora Police Department is requesting the public’s assistance in the investigation of an assault, which resulted in great bodily injury.
On Monday, 9 May 2011, at approx. 7:20 pm, there was an assault and battery which occurred in the Rite Aid parking lot, located at 850 Mono Way. Two male subjects assaulted a third male subject at the front entrance of the store.
The two suspects were described as a White male and a Hispanic male between 19 and 23 years of age. The White male is approximately 5’10” to 6’ tall, medium build with short, possibly brown hair. The Hispanic male is approximately 5’7” to 5’9” tall, medium build with short dark hair.
Several witnesses were observed watching the fight on the store’s surveillance video. Some witnesses even intervened and stopped the attack. However, no one called the Police Department to report the incident, nor has anyone come forward and reported that they had witnessed the attack.
The victim in this case remains hospitalized with major head trauma.
