Assault with a Deadly Weapon Arrest

On Wednesday, August 15th at about 7:40 p.m., the Sonora Police Department responded to the 200 block of Bonanza Road on a report of a disturbance.  When the officers arrived, they learned that a resident of the home, 60-year-old Art Sanchez, threw dangerous objects at his roommate who was standing in the backyard of the residence at the time.  According to the victim, Sanchez was acting irrational and became violent for no apparent reason.  Sanchez threw an iron exercise weight, an end-table and a sizeable glass-encased candle at his roommate.  The victim was able to avoid being hit with the weight and the end-table but was struck with the candle which caused minor injuries.

Sanchez was arrested on scene and transported to the Tuolumne County Jail where he was booked for Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
