Assault with a deadly weapon

5 January 2010, at approx. 6:02 pm, Officers from the Sonora Police Department responded to the area of the Police Department regarding a verbal disturbance. Officers contacted Robert Adams, 26, a transient: Justin White, 30, of Sonora: And a 29 year old female transient. Adams was bleeding from a small single puncture wound to his abdomen.
From speaking with the parties involved and witnesses, Officers learned that White and the female transient were in Courthouse Park, when they were approached by Adams. The female has an active restraining order against Adams.
Adams started making comments about the female subject and White. White and the female subject started walking away, but Adams followed them and continued antagonizing them. Finally, a physical fight broke out between Adams and White. Then during the fight, White removed a small pocket knife and stabbed Adams one time, stopping the physical confrontation.
White and the female subject continued walking away and Adams continued following them and yelling at them, until they neared the Police Department. Adams was transported to Sonora Regional Medical Center where he was treated and released. Both Adams and White were arrested and transported to the Tuolumne County Jail.
