Subject: Attempted Carjacking

23 Nov. 2010, at approx. 8:28 pm, an officer was flagged down in the Sonora Plaza Parking lot (716 Mono Way), by a subject who stated someone had just attempted to carjack him.

The victim told the officer he had pulled into the parking lot with his family, when a white, male, adult in his 20’s approached his car and tried to open the locked driver’s side door, while saying, “give me your car.”

The victim told the suspect to step away from his car, which the suspect did. But while doing so, the suspect reached inside his jacket as if to grab something. The victim exited his vehicle and approached the suspect, who took off running northbound on Greenley Road.

The suspect is described as being a white, male adult in his 20’s, approximately 5-10, 180 pounds, with short brown hair, wearing a tan jacket, tan hat, and blue jeans. The subject was also described as possibly being under the influence of a controlled substance.
