Subject: Attempted Homicide Arrest
7 June 2011, at approx. 5:10 pm, a subject ran to the Police Department and reported that a male subject was beating another male subject in Coffill Park, which is located across the street from the Police Department.
Officers arrived and located an unconscious 48 year old male lying in the park. Witness pointed out the suspect, who was still at the park. The suspect was identified as Thomas Light Jr., 39 of Tuolumne.
Witnesses told Officers that Light ran up to the victim, for some unknown reason, then picked the victim up and slammed him head first into the concrete. Light then started slamming the victims head into the concrete until the victim became unconscious.
Light told the Officers that he and the victim had an incident three weeks ago. Light also told the Officers that he told the victim at that time, that the next time he saw the victim he was, “going to beat his head in.” Light also told Officers that he didn’t care if the victim died.
Light was taken into custody without incident. He was transported to the Tuolumne County Jail and booked for attempted homicide and battery resulting in great bodily harm.
The victim suffered major head trauma and was flown to Modesto for treatment. The victim is currently on a ventilator and being treated for head and brain injuries.
