Attempted Vandalism and Probation Violation Arrest

On December 3rd, shortly before 7:00 PM, Sonora Police Officers were called to the United States Post Office (781 S. Washington Street) for a report of a male subject who was screaming and not wearing any shoes. A Sonora Police Officer arrived on scene and made contact with the subject who was seated on the sidewalk in front of the US Post Office. The male was identified as Evan Dale Underwood, 27 of Sonora. The Officer also observed evidence of broken glass on the sidewalk in front of door entrance. After further investigation, it was determined that Underwood had thrown a glass bottle at the front door of the business in attempts to break the window. After close examination, it was determined there was no visible damage to the window. At that time, it was believed that if Underwood would have caused damage to the window, the cost to replace the window would have exceeded $400.00 in value. A records check also reveled that Underwood was on Tuolumne County Probation and the terms of his probation stated he was to obey all laws.

Underwood was arrested for attempted vandalism of property and violation of probation terms. Underwood was transported to the Tuolumne County Jail where he remains in custody without bail.
