Attempted Vehicle Burglary Arrest

On Thursday March 10th, at 5:35 P.M., Sonora Police Officers were dispatched to the Timber Hills Shopping Center, 1054 Mono Way for a report of a male subject attempting to break into a vehicle. Officers were told that a male suspect had been caught in the act of breaking into a vehicle and was being detained by a private citizen behind Mountain Mike’s Pizza. When officers arrived on scene they determined Keith Brian Sampson (33 years old) of Sheep Ranch, attempted to break into a locked 2006 Chevrolet Trail Blazer behind Mountain Mike’s Pizza. The vehicle’s alarm alerted the owner who chased, tackled and restrained Sampson until Sonora Police Officers arrived. Sampson was found to be in possession of gloves and a burglary tool. Officers examined the vehicle and discovered Sampson used the tool found in his possession to access the vehicle through a window.

Sampson was arrested for attempted vehicle burglary and possession of burglary tools. Sampson was also found to be on Calaveras County Probation for burglary. He remains in custody at the Tuolumne County Jail with a bail amount set for $15,000.
