On Monday, January 8th, shortly after 8:00 a.m., an ATCAA employee called to report the building had been burglarized over the weekend. It was determined that the suspect had stolen two laptop computers and the contents of two cash lockboxes. After reviewing video from ATCAA surveillance, as well as video from another nearby business, Sonora Police Officers identified the suspect as 43-year-old Christopher Wade Phillips of Sonora.
It was determined that Phillips entered the building on two separate occasions; the first time was on Sunday afternoon and the second time was early Monday morning when he returned with an unidentified accomplice. The two suspects went from room to room searching and looting before leaving with the stolen property. The value of the laptops was valued at $900 each, and the contents of the lockboxes are still being assessed.
Yesterday, just before 4:00 p.m., Officer Weber spotted Phillips walking downtown and arrested him for Burglary and Conspiracy to Commit Burglary. The Sonora Police Department is still working to recover the stolen property and to identify Phillips’ accomplice.
