On 15 Sept. 2009, the Sonora area was hit with several “cat burglaries.” The first occurred at approx. 1:30 am, on the 600 block of S. Stewart St.. In this case the home owner was awoken by two subjects in his yard. He later determined the subjects had entered his enclosed patio and removed some items.

At approx. 2:30 am, on the 400 block of S. Barretta St., a resident heard voices coming from her kitchen. When she entered her kitchen, a male subject ran out the back door of her residence, after removing several items from inside her residence.

At approx. 3:30 am, on the 700 block of S. Barretta St., a resident heard voices/noises inside his residence. As he was looking around the inside of his residence, he located a male subject hiding inside a closet. When the resident confronted the subject, the subject brandished a knife at the home owner and ran out of the residence. Several items had also been removed from this residence. The resident was later able to identify the responsible, who had threatened him with a knife, from a photo lineup. This person was identified as Cody Fallo, 18 of Sonora.

At approx. 6:55 pm, Officers responded to a residence on the 500 block of S. Barretta St. regarding another burglary. While an officer was taking this report, another officer located Fallo and a 17 year old juvenile a few blocks away from the recent burglary. Fallo was carrying a box, which contained several items taken during the current burglary. The juvenile, who is on probation for theft related incidents, was also in possession of property taken during the most recent burglary.

Both subjects were taken into custody. Fallo was transported to the Tuolumne County Jail and booked for felony burglary and felony possession of stolen property. The juvenile was turned over to the Tuolumne County Probation Department for felony possession of stolen property and for misdemeanor possession of a prescription drug.
The investigation into this matter is continuing and additional chargers are expected to be filed against one or both of these subjects.
