DOMESTIC BATTERY, FELONY WARRANTS, DRUG POSSESSION

On Thursday, December 1st, at approximately 11:40 am., Sonora Police Officers responded to a residence on Fairview Lane for an assault which was called into 911. When officers arrived, they met with an adult female assault victim who had significant injuries to her face. Medical personnel were dispatched to the scene and the victim was transported to the Sonora Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Officers learned that during an argument, 36-year-old Scott Warren Anderson of Sonora had struck his estranged wife in the face and tried choking her. It was also determined that Anderson was the restrained party in a served and active criminal protective order for Domestic Violence. Anderson had fled the scene prior to the officer’s arrival. An extensive search of the area was conducted but he could not be located. Officers continued to actively look for Anderson throughout the week.

On Friday, December 9th, at approximately 10:15 a.m., the Sonora Police Department received a report from a caller who spotted Anderson on foot in the area of Stockton Road and Forest Road. As several officers searched the area on foot, the Police Department received another call from a local business reporting a suspicious male refusing to leave their lobby. As Anderson fled the business, officers and sheriff’s deputies converged on Anderson and were able to take him into custody without incident. Anderson was found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine at the time of his apprehension.

Scott Warren Anderson was arrested and booked for felony domestic battery, violating a restraining order, and possession of a controlled substance. Additionally, he was booked on several outstanding felony and misdemeanor warrants for charges including; domestic battery, burglary, vandalism, violation of probation and theft. He remains in custody with a bail set for $210,000.
