Subject: Stolen Property and Drug Lab Arrest

19 March 10, at approx. 8:00 am, a resident on the 400 block of East Jackson St. called the Sonora Police Department and reported two prowlers in his yard. When the home owner confronted the subjects they left the area. Shortly after they walk away from the area, the home owner heard a semi truck start up and leave, which they felt was strange for this area of town.

A few hours later, officers were advised by the CHP of a stolen semi truck, which was taken just outside the City Limits. At approx. 2:30 pm, an officer located the stolen semi truck parked in the driver way of a residence on the 300 block of East Lyons St.

While the officer was waiting for assistance, an older blue Datsun pickup left the residence, which was being driven by a male subject. When assistance arrived the officers made contact with a subject who was near the stolen vehicle. This subject was identified as Steven Murphy, 28 of Columbia. Murphy admitted to having knowledge that the semi truck was stolen and he was taken into custody. He was also in the possession of a glass pipe commonly used for smoking methamphetamine.

Later, officers located the Datsun pickup and stopped it. The driver was the same person the officer had observed driving from the East Lyons St. residence. The driver was identified as Daniel Foote, 26 of Tuolumne. Foote refused to exit the vehicle and he was physically removed from the vehicle and taken into custody.

A search warrant was obtained for the residence on East Lyons St.. The residence belongs to Martha Fisher, who was arrested by officers the day before, after a brief struggle. Fisher was listed as Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office Most Wanted Person of the week, for warrants related to felony drug charges.

During the excision of the search warrant on the residence, there were numerous items of stolen property located. These items were stolen from both inside the City and in the County. Also located on the property was an active Hashish lab.

Agencies assisting with the incident were Cal Fire investigators, who responded and assisted with the processing of the lab. Tuolumne County Animal Control, who assisted with animals in the residence. Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office, who assisted with recovered stolen property from crimes that had occurred in the County.

Murphy was booked for;
• Possession of stolen property
• Being under the influence of a controlled substance
• Possession of drug paraphernalia

Foote was booked for;
• Possession of stolen property
• Resisting arrest
• Driving on a suspended driver’s license

Fisher was booked for; (Who was still in custody)
• Manufacturing a controlled substance

The investigation into this matter is continuing.
