Subject: Drug Transportation and Sales Arrest
27 September 2010, at approx. 11:25 pm, officers from the Sonora Police Department stopped a 2006 Pontiac G-6 on Snell St. for speeding and crossing over double yellow lines. The officers contacted the driver who was identified as Silvestere Lizarraga, 18 of Riverbank, and the passenger who was identified as Gerardo Ballardo, 18 of Riverbank.
While the officers were talking with Lizarraga and Ballardo, they could smell the odor of fresh burnt marijuana emitting from inside the passenger compartment of the vehicle. During a search of the vehicle officers located 4 ounces of uncut crystal methamphetamine. The estimated street value of the methamphetamine is between $7,000 & $8,000.
Lizarraga and Ballardo were taken into custody without incident and transported to the Tuolumne County Jail and booked for;
• Felony transportation of a controlled substance
• Felony possession of a controlled substance for sale
• Felony possession of a controlled substance
