Subject: Evading Arrest
27 February 2011, at approx. 10:05 pm, an Officer from the Sonora Police Department observed a Honda motorcycle fail to stop for two stop signs on Church Street, then turn and accelerated rapidly onto Stewart Street.
The Officer active his emergency lights and siren in an attempt to stop the motorcyclist. However, the motorcyclist failed to stop. Another Officer started paralleling the pursuit on S. Washington Street. When the motorcyclist turned toward S. Washington St., he observed the other officer who was paralleling the pursuit and lost control of his motorcycle and crashed.
The motorcyclist then got up and took off running. The Officers chased the motorcyclist on foot and was able to take him into custody, after a short foot pursuit. The motorcyclist was identified as Tyler Devereux, 19 of Sonora. Devereux was uninjured from the motorcycle accident. He was transported to the Tuolumne County Jail and booked for;
• Felony evading an Officer
• Misdemeanor resisting arrest
• Misdemeanor violation of probation
• Misdemeanor driving on a suspended driver’s license
