Fatal Vehicle v. Pedestrian Collision

Late Tuesday evening, just before midnight, the Sonora Police Department responded to the area of Mono Way near Truckenmiller Road for a vehicle versus pedestrian collision. It was determined that a white 2008 Toyota Prius, driven by a 30-year-old Tuolumne City resident, had struck a pedestrian within the eastbound lane. The pedestrian, a 40-year-old Sonora man, was rushed to the hospital where, sadly, he succumbed to his injuries.

The exact cause of this collision is still under investigation, but it doesn’t appear at this time that drugs or alcohol were contributing factors for the driver of the vehicle.
