Subject: Felony Hit and Run Arrest
On 24 October 2016, an employee of a café in Murphys called the Sonora Police Department, after observing Louis Page inside the café. Page was wanted for questioning regarding a felony hit and run accident, which occurred on 18 October 2016, at the intersection of N. Washington and Elkin Streets, sending a pedestrian to the hospital with major injuries.
The Sonora Police Department contacted the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Department, who sent a Deputy to contact and detain Page until an Officer from the Sonora Police Department could arrive to speak with Page regarding the accident.
Page readily admitted to the crime, stating he left the scene of the accident because he could not find a place to pull over after striking the pedestrian with his vehicle. Damage was located on Page’s vehicle, which was consistent with the description of the collision provided by witnesses.
Page was transported to the Tuolumne County jail and booked for felony hit and run.
