18 October 2016, at approx. 9:19 am, emergency personnel responded to the intersection of Elkin and North Washington Street for a reported vehicle vs. pedestrian accident.

During the investigation it was determined Jessica Williams, 30 of Jamestown, was walking south on North Washington Street, and was crossing Elkin Street in the marked crosswalk, when she was struck by a silver Honda sedan, which was turning left onto Elkin Street from southbound North Washington Street.

The male driver stopped momentarily and asked Williams is she was okay, before fleeing the scene of the accident when several witnesses mentioned contacting law enforcement. The driver was later identified in a photo lineup by witnesses as Louis Page, 76 of Valley Springs.

Williams sustained major injuries as a result of the collision. She was transported to Sonora Regional Medical Center by ambulance then later airlifted to a Modesto hospital for further medical treatment.
