On May 12th at about 9:45 pm, one of our officers was patrolling in the Crossroads Shopping Center and saw 59-year-old Jay Nichols inside of a local business. The officer recognized Nichols from prior contacts and was able to confirm an active felony warrant for his arrest for a Post-Release Community Supervision (PRCS) violation. The officer arrested Nichols for the warrant and transported him to County Jail. A more thorough search at the jail revealed Nichols had a small amount of heroin in his possession, which he knowingly brought into the facility.
In addition to the felony warrant, Nichols was booked for felony charges relating to bringing controlled substances into a Jail facility.
