Subject: Graffiti Arrest
30 January 2011, at approx. 7:11 pm, an employee from OSH called the Sonora Police Department and reported that a male subject had entered the store and asked where the spray paint was. A clerk directed him to the isle and the subject selected and purchased a can of red spray paint.
A short time later, the subject returned and claimed that the spray paint can had exploded when he tried to use it and wanted to exchange it for a new can. The subject had red spray paint all over his hands. The clerk exchanged the spray paint can.
Because the clerk felt the subject was acting strange and was possibly under the influence of something, they watched him exited the store. The clerk watched the subject walked over to the back side of Big O Tires, where he started spray painting graffiti on the wall, at which time the clerk called the police department.
When officers arrived, the subject was being detained by witnesses. The subject was identified as Andrew Clemo, who is a 28 year old transient. It was also learned during the investigation, that Clemo was on felony probation for petty theft with prior convictions.
Clemo was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Tuolumne County Jail and booked for; violation of felony probation and misdemeanor vandalism. The investigation into this matter is continuing to determine if Clemo is responsible for other recent graffiti in the area.
