Hit & Run Collision and Arrest

On Sunday, May 28th at approximately 2:44 pm, Sonora Police Department received a call of a hit & run traffic collision involving a vehicle vs. pedestrian near the intersection of S. Washington Street (SR 49) and Jackson Street. Officers responded to the scene and determined that a white Pontiac made a left turn from westbound E. Jackson Street onto southbound S. Washington Street (SR 49) and collided with a female pedestrian who was walking eastbound across S. Washington Street (SR 49) in a marked crosswalk. The driver of the Pontiac then fled the scene of the collision without providing insurance information or reporting the collision to law enforcement. The pedestrian sustained minor injuries to her left foot, knee and elbow as a result of the collision. A witness to the collision was able to obtain the license plate number of the involved Pontiac and provided that information to responding officers. Officers identified the vehicle as a 2007 Pontiac Vibe, registered to a local address. Officers then responded to the address and following an investigation, determined the driver of the Pontiac to be Tammy Roe, 53 of Sonora. Roe was arrested for leaving the scene of a collision, which resulted in a party sustaining injury, a felony. Roe was transported to the Tuolumne County Jail where she remains in custody on $10,000 bail.  Drugs or alcohol does not appear to be a factor in this collision.
