INJURY COLLISION – VEHICLE vs. PEDESTRIAN

On Tuesday, September 12th, just before 8:00 p.m., the Sonora Police Department responded to a vehicle vs. pedestrian collision at the intersection of Washington Street and Jackson Street. It was determined that a 1999 white Ford SUV, driven by a 78-year-old Sonora man, was traveling northbound on Washington Street and had struck a 23-year-old woman from Woodland California and her 1-year-old male child. The mother and her child were crossing Washington Street from east to west within the marked crosswalk when the collision occurred. Both sustained moderate to severe injuries and were transported out of county for medical treatment. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The cause of the collision is unknown at this time as the investigation is still ongoing.
