MAN ATTEMPTS TO FLEE OFFICER

On Wednesday, January 18th, just after 630 a.m., Officer Memmer was traveling eastbound on Stockton Road when he noticed 30-year-old Levi Elden Coon walking on the roadway edge. Officer Memmer was aware of outstanding warrants for Coon’s arrest and stopped to contact him. As Officer Memmer exited his patrol car, Coon took off running on foot. Officer Memmer returned to his patrol car and followed Coon with his emergency lights activated as Coon ran across the roadway in an attempt to evade arrest. Coon then jumped over a guardrail and onto the embankment of Woods Creek. With the assistance of Officer Norris and Deputies from the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Department, Officer Memmer was able to contain Coon and take him into custody without further incident. Coon was booked for felony and misdemeanor warrants out of both Tuolumne and Calaveras counties. He was also booked for resisting/obstructing a Peace Officer.
