MINOR INJURY COLLISION

On Thursday, January 12th at approximately 7:56 pm, two vehicles collided at the intersection of South Shepherd Street and East Church Street in Sonora. A silver 2004 Lincoln sedan, driven by a 71-year-old Sonora man failed to stop at the posted intersection and traveled into the path of a gray 1999 Dodge pickup traveling eastbound on Church Street. The 37-year-old male driver of the pickup, also of Sonora, applied his brakes but was unable to avoid colliding with the Lincoln. The force of the collision caused the Lincoln to impact a small retaining wall at the roadway edge. The driver of the Lincoln was transported to the hospital and treated for minor injuries. The Lincoln had to be towed from the scene due to the damage it sustained from the collision.

Drugs or alcohol does not appear to be a factor in this collision but the investigation is still ongoing.
