The Sonora Police Department’s Explorer Post #364 continues to expand. On Monday, 2 March 2015, two new Explorers were sworn in before the City Council. The two new members are Victor Battle and Nick Cragholm.

There are several requirements these two young men had to accomplish before reaching this point. Some of these requirements are set by the Boy Scouts of America, who charter the Explorer Post.

Victor is a freshman at Sonora High School, where he runs cross country. Victor has been with the Explorer program for approximately eight months. After high school Victor plans to join the U.S. Marines and become a Military Police Officer. Victor’s personal motto is, “Pain is weakness leaving your body.”

Nick is also a freshman at Sonora High School. Nick plays football, wrestles and is on the trap team. He has been in the Explorer program for approximately eight months as well. Nick also plans on joining the U.S. Marines after high school. Nick’s long range goal is a career in law enforcement.

This year marks the twentieth anniversary of the Sonora Police Department’s Explorer Post #364. Numerous individuals who have been part of the Department’s Explorer Program have gone on to successful careers in law enforcement.

The Police Explorer Program is an excellent training program for those seeking a career in law enforcement, or who just want to learn a little about the field of law enforcement.
