PAROLE VIOLATOR, POSSESSION OF BURGLARY TOOLS, AND UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF DRUGS

On 25-November 2016, 25-year-old Edward Lee Jones of Sonora California was arrested for possession of burglary tools, being under the influence of illegal drugs, and for violating the conditions of his parole.

Just after 4:30 am, Sonora Police Officers were called to Walmart for a suspicious male who attempted to conceal store merchandise and then refused to leave after being contacted by store personnel. Upon the officer’s arrival, the described male, later determined to be Edward Jones, was seen leaving the parking lot as a passenger in a white 2001 Ford Explorer driven by 28-year-old Chantelle Tiara Fontana of Sonora California. As the officer was attempting to catch up to the vehicle, the Ford Explorer pulled into the Lowe’s parking lot apparently to avoid detection. Jones and Fontana quickly exited the vehicle and attempted to hide behind outdoor store merchandise just as officers arrived and detained them.

Edward Jones was determined to be on active CDC Parole for felony reckless evasion. Officers also determined Jones was under the influence of illegal drugs and in possession of tools specifically designed to commit crimes of larceny. Jones was taken into custody and remains in jail on a parole hold. Fontana was cited at the scene and released on a misdemeanor notice to appear for driving without a license.
