Subject: Recruitment for Police Officer Recruit

The City of Sonora is accepting applications for the position of Police Officer Recruit. The classification of Police Officer Recruit is a recruiting and training-level position used for qualified candidates to learn the duties of a Police Officer with the Sonora Police Department.
Incumbents in this class undergo a formal, comprehensive training program in a Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certified police academy. Upon satisfactory completion of the police academy, the Police Officer Recruit will be sworn in as a Police Officer with the Sonora Police Department. They will then start a field training program, as well as be placed on an 18 month probation period.
