Possession of a Controlled Substance Arrest

On Thursday March 9, 2017 around 12:30 P.M., Sonora Police Officers were dispatched to a report of a parking violation at the intersection of S. Stewart Street and Theall Street. Officers responded to the area and observed a black colored, 1999 Cadillac Deville parked at the intersection. Officers observed a male, identified as Val Ray Robertson (61 years old) of Sonora, occupying the vehicle. Officers recognized Robertson from previous contacts and new Robertson to be on Tuolumne County Probation. A records check confirmed that Robertson was in fact on probation for drug related offenses. Officers contacted Robertson and obtained consent to search his vehicle.

As an officer approached the vehicle the officer observed a small zip lock bag containing a white crystal like substance in plain view on the driver’s seat. Upon further investigation the substance was determined to be methamphetamine. Robertson was arrested and booked at the Tuolumne County Jail for possession of a controlled substance and violation of probation terms.
