Subject: Possession of Stolen Property Arrest

22 June 2010, at approx. 11:25 pm, an officer from the Sonora Police Department observed a Ford Explorer exiting from behind Orchard Hardware Supply, which was closed. As the officer watched the vehicle, he observed that rear of the vehicle was squatting down, as if it had a heavy load.

The officer stopped the vehicle to see why it was behind the closed business. The officer contact the driver, Rudy Renteria, 20, of Jamestown and the passenger Isreal Renteria, 23, of Sonora, who is Rudy’s brother. A records check revealed that Rudy is on felony probation out of Tuolumne County for robbery, and that Isreal is on State parole for felony robbery.

During a parole and probation search of the vehicle, 29 bags of potting soil were located inside the vehicle. The officer was able to determine the potting soil had been removed from the backyard area of Orchard Hardware Supply. Rudy and Isreal were taken into custody without incident. They were transported to the Tuolumne County;
