Purse Snatching – Robbery

On Saturday, July 7th, at around 10:00 p.m., a Sonora woman was approached after leaving the fairgrounds and her purse violently stolen from her.  The woman reported to the Police Department that as she was walking through the nearby parking lot off of Stockton Road, a male subject approached from behind and grabbed her purse.  When the woman resisted, the suspect punched her in the face and demanded her purse.  She tried to fight off her attacker by punching him back, but he punched her again and forced her purse from her hands.  The suspect fled the scene with the victim’s purse containing an undisclosed amount of money and some personal effects.  The victim sustained minor facial injuries.

 

The suspect is identified as a tall, white, male adult with a slender build, wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt.  The victim also stated the suspect spoke with a raspy voice.
