Sergeant Recruitment

The City of Sonora is recruiting for the position of Police Sergeant. The position will close Friday, 4 November 2016, with testing anticipated for Wednesday, 16 November 2016. Testing will consist of a presentation, as well as an oral evaluation.

Education/Experience
1) Five years of full time experience in a California POST certified law enforcement agency at the level of Police Officer or higher.
2) Possess a valid POST Intermediate Certificate at time of appointment.
3) Possess an Associate of Arts Degree from an accredited college; or 60 college semester units of course work from an accredited college. A Bachelors Degree from an accredited college/university is highly desirable.

Salary
Base Salary $5,319-$6,465 a month (Base pay reflects Intermediate certification pay)

Incentives
5.0% for Advanced POST Certificate
2.5% for Supervisory POST Certificate
2.5% for each educational degree: Associates/Bachelors/Masters

Benefits
CalPERS retirement: Classic employees 3% @ 50, New to system 2.7% @ 57; Insurance premiums paid 100% by the City for employee & dependents; $1,200 yearly uniform allowance; take home vehicle program for employees meeting mileage limits; computer assistance purchase program; 4-10 work schedule.
