Subject: Armed Robbery Arrest
31 Jan. 09, at approx. 8:19 pm, officers from the Sonora Police Department responded to the front of the Pak N Save Market, located on Sanguinetti Rd., regarding a physical confrontation, which involved two Loss Prevention Agents from Pak N Save and a theft suspect from the same location.
When officers arrived, they contacted the male and female Loss Prevention Agents from Pak N Save. The agents related they had observed Alex Simmons, a 21 year old homeless male, conceal a bottle of liquor on his person and then exit the store without paying for the bottle.
Both Loss Prevention Agents followed Simmons as he exited the store. Once outside, they contacted Simmons and identified themselves. At this point Simmons punched one of the Loss Prevention Agents in the face and kicked the other one. Simmons then attempted to flee the area, but he was tackled by the agents in the parking lot. While the Loss Prevention Agents were wrestling with Simmons in the parking lot, they were almost struck by a motorist driving by them. Simmons was eventually taken into custody by the Loss Prevention Agents and turned over to the Sonora Police Department.
Simmons was transported to the Tuolumne County Jail and booked for armed robbery.
