SPOA Award

Sonora Police Department SPOA AwardOn 06/10/2015, the Sonora Police Officer’s Association showed their appreciation to Steve Kane of The Sportsman, located in downtown Sonora. Steve and his staff reported that Aaron Scott Jess was attempting to sell stolen ammunition and body armor to The Sportsman. The ammunition in question was stolen from the Sonora Police Department’s ammunition storage facility. Steve’s crime tip led to Jess’ arrest. Jess’ confession assisted the Sonora Police Department in obtaining a search warrant at a home that was storing a large amount of the stolen ammunition. With the assistance of the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office, California Highway Patrol and Cal screenshot. 4Fire, the Sonora Police Department was able to recover a large amount of the stolen ammunition.

Because of Steve’s assistance and cooperation, the Sonora Police Department was able to solve a high dollar burglary case. The Sonora Police Department consistently relies on the citizens of Sonora to help us make the City of Sonora a safer place to live and visit. The Sonora Police Officer’s Association would like to thank Steve again and everyone in the community that shows us their support.
