Stolen

On April 24, 2018 at approximately at 10:21 am Sonora Police responded to the area of the Crossroads Shopping Center on report a possible stolen vehicle. A caller reported a suspicious vehicle parked near Starbucks. The caller provided dispatch with the business name on the vehicle; “Dorothy Day House”, which is a non-profit charity organization in Berkeley. Dispatch advised the caller contacted the organization and was advised a vehicle matching the description had been stolen the previous night. When checking the license plate on the vehicle it was confirmed to be stolen out of Berkley. Officers’ arrived on scene and made contact with a male (Michael Brennan of Oakland) and female (Corrine Benavidez of Ceres) near the vehicle. Through subsequent investigation it was found that Brennan was responsible for the theft of the vehicle. Drug paraphernalia was also located in the vehicle. Benavidez was cited and released from the scene. Brennan was booked at the Tuolumne County Jail on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
