Subject: Suspicious Bottle & Substance
6 Oct. 2010, at approx. 3:32 pm, the Sonora Police Department received a call from an employee of the AT&T store, located at 133 Old Wards Ferry Rd. The employee reported they had located a suspicious plastic bottle, filled with some type of yellow liquid with a tinfoil cap, inside the cell phone recycling bin.
Officers responded and examined the bottle, but were unable to determine the bottles contents or why it was in the cell phone recycling bin. For precautionary measures the AT&T store and the surrounding businesses were evacuated.
The Calaveras County Bomb Squad was requested to respond to the business. The Bomb Squad removed the suspicious item and the businesses were reopened at 5:14 pm. The investigation into this matter is continuing.
