Subject: Suspicious Circumstances
16 Nov. 2010, at approx. 9:38 am, the Sonora Police Department received a call from a resident on the 400 block of Morning Star Drive. The resident related they had located a jar in their front yard, which was wrapped with tape and a fuse coming out of the top, with the words “Bomb” written on it.
Officers responded to the area. After examining the item and noticing that the fuse had been burned, the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Department Bomb Squad was called for assistance in examining and removing the item.
The bomb squad removed the item and examined it at a safe location. They determined the item was not an explosive device and was probably a prank of some sort.
