Threatening a Police Officer Arrest

On 03-18-2018, around 4:50 PM, Sonora Police Officers were called to Adventist Health Sonora, 1000 Greenley Road, for a report of a male subject who refused to leave the lobby. A Sonora Police Officer arrived on scene and made contact with the subject, identified as Carlos Rene Canez, III, 29 years old of Sonora. The officer advised Canez that hospital staff requested he leave the property. As the officer was escorting Canez off the property he made a threat that he would kill the officer if he or his property was touched. The Officer asked Canez if he was threatening him and Canez told the officer it was a promise.
The Officer arrested Canez for making threats to a peace officer, a felony. Canez was transported to the Tuolumne County Jail where he was booked on the felony charge and turned over to jail staff. Canez remains in custody on $10,000 bail.
