Vehicle Theft

Subject: Stolen Vehicle

2 September 2014, at approximately 9:28 am, a subject called the Sonora Police Department and reported someone had just taken his company truck, a 2011, Ford F-250, registered to Amerigas.

The victim parked the vehicle on Stockton Road, near S. Washington Street, and left the vehicle running, while he ran into a business. Then when he returned, the vehicle was gone. Several people witnessed the theft. One witness was able to identify the suspect from a photo line-up as being Paul Velasquez, a 32 year old transient. Velasquez is currently on probation in Tuolumne County for burglary.

The victim had left his cell phone inside the stolen vehicle. With the use of the cell phone’s built in tracking device, the vehicle was located traveling westbound on Highway 108 entering Oakdale. The Oakdale Police Department was advised of the theft and the vehicles location.

The Oakdale Police Department stopped the vehicle and took Velasquez into custody for felony vehicle theft. Velasquez was transported to the Stanislaus County Jail and booked.
