13 January 2016, at approx. 6:56 P.M., while officers were investigating another major injury accident, they were advised of a vehicle vs. pedestrian accident at the intersection of Mono Way and Restano Way.

Roger Leontie, 78, had turned onto Restano Way from Mono Way, when a pedestrian walked into the path of the right side of Leontie’s vehicle. Leontie’s was unable to avoid the pedestrian and his vehicle struck the pedestrian. The force of the impact caused the pedestrian’s head and face to penetrate the vehicle’s windshield.

The pedestrian was identified as Anthony Moore, a 40 year old transient. Moore was not crossing the street in a marked crosswalk, and was between two intersections. It was also determined Moore was intoxicated at the time of the collision. Moore sustained major injuries. He was transported by ground ambulance to Sonora Regional Medical Center then flown to Modesto.

There were two witnesses to this collision who confirmed Moore’s actions prior to the collision. This investigation is ongoing.
