Subject: Vehicle vs. Pedestrian Accident
3 December 2014, at approximately 6:02 pm, emergency personnel responded to the intersection of South Washington Street and Jackson Street for a reported vehicle vs. pedestrian accident.
It was determined Daniel Borton, 56 of Columbia was driving a 1998 Nissan Maxima northbound on S. Washington Street approaching Jackson Street; while Connie Waters, 79 of Columbia, was crossing S. Washington Street, east to west, in a marked crosswalk at the intersection of S. Washington Street and Jackson Street.
Borton failed to see Waters crossing the roadway in the marked crosswalk and struck her. Waters was approximately eleven feet into the roadway when she was struck. Waters complained of pain to her left side where she had been struck by Borton’s vehicle. Waters was transported to Sonora Regional Medical Center for treatment.
The investigation into this matter is continuing.
