2 Aug. 2015, at approx. 9:52 pm, emergency personnel responded to the north side of the intersection of S. Washington Street and Stockton Road for a report of a vehicle hitting two pedestrians.

It was determined John Martin, 65 of Sonora and Val Robertson, 59 of Sonora were both within a marked crosswalk and crossing S. Washington Street on a green pedestrian light, when they were both struck by a 2001 Daewoo sedan being operated by 19 year old Caleb Wooldridge of Sonora; who was turning northbound onto S. Washington Street from Stockton Road. Wooldridge failed to see the two pedestrians in the crosswalk, as they crossed S. Washington Street, and struck them.

The force of the impact knocked both of the pedestrians to the pavement, both of whom suffered injuries. Robertson was transported to Sonora Regional Medical Center where he was treated for minor injuries and later released. Martin was going to seek his own medical aid. Alcohol nor drugs were a factor in this incident.
