Arrest for Possession of a Billy Club and Other Charges

On Thursday afternoon, 37-year-old Jay Christopher Whittle of Mu Wuk was arrested for felony possession of a billy club, being a felon in possession of pepper spray, possession of drug paraphernalia, and for a want out of Angels Camp.

At around 3:30 on Thursday, May 14th, one of our officers stopped a 2005 Honda Civic for failing to stop at an intersection on Stewart Street.  Whittle, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was determined to be on probation.  During a search of the vehicle, the officer located a can of pepper spray, multiple hypodermic needles, an opened container of alcohol, and a billy club, which is a felony in California.  Additionally, it was discovered that Angels Camp PD had an active want for Whittle for a domestic violence arrest.  Because of Whittle’s prior felony conviction, he was not allowed to be in possession of tear gas (pepper spray, etc.).

Whittle was arrested and booked at the Tuolumne County Jail for his local charges, and Angels Camp PD was notified of the detention
