DUI, Resisting Arrest and Parole Violation

26-year-old Brandon J. Silva of Columbia was arrested Thursday, February 27th for multiple charges, which included DUI, resisting arrest, and violating felony parole.

At around 8:15 in the morning, the Police Department received a call from a witness who saw a man flee the scene of a collision that occurred on Dodge Street near Washington Street.  The witness provided a description of the driver and his last known direction of travel.

The responding officer arrived within minutes and located Silva nearby, who matched the given description.  When the officer attempted to detain Silva, he was physically non-compliant with her, but she was ultimately able to take him into custody.

Silva was determined to be under the influence of alcohol and was positively identified as the driver of the vehicle left abandon on Dodge Street.  Additionally, he was determined to be unlicensed and on active CDC parole.

It is being alleged that Silva was traveling southbound on Washington Street before turning the wrong way onto Dodge Street, which is designed for westbound traffic only.  It is believed that due to high speeds, he was unable to make the turn without sliding into a metal railing before crossing over to the opposite side of the street and into the corner of the building.

Silva was booked at the Tuolumne County Jail for his charges.  Thankfully nobody was hurt, and there was no structural damage to the building.
